Ensembles

Central High School's jazz band—known as Jazz Central—is made up of high school musicians who perform a more laid-back repertoire of music. They perform at local festivals and other school events throughout the year, as well as alongside our Small Ensemble during the holiday season.  Jazz Central perform pieces by artists such as Peter Blaire, Stevie Wonder, and Duke Ellington...just to name a few.

Central's Small Ensemble is a concert band that consists of select high school students who perform musical arrangements meant for groups with fewer players. The instrumentation is largely the same as that of Concert Band, with the exclusion of percussion. This group primarily performs at various community events during the holiday season.

Winterguard is our off-season Colorguard ensemble. Currently, our Winterguard practices once a week during the spring semester (as well as a few times over the summer) to prepare a routine for performance in July at the Watermelon Festival. You do not have to be a part of the Colorguard section in Marching Band in order to participate, so if you're dedicated to your instrument but would like to give Colorguard a try, this is a great way to do so!

Central's Percussion Ensemble practices in the Spring semester and plays musical arrangements meant only for percussion instruments. Like with Winterguard, you do not need to be a percussionist in marching or concert band to participate in Percussion Ensemble. This group typically performs once per year, at the Watermelon Festival.
